As the guests left and the house fell into a calm silence, Nisha turned to Jhavni with a warm smile. “Beta, I know you’re tired after such a long day, but there’s one small tradition we still need to complete.”
Jhavni looked at her curiously, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. “Of course, Maa. What is it?”
Nisha placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. “You need to prepare at least a simple sweet dish for dinner. It’s called pehli rasoi—your first meal in your new home. After that, I’ll ask the servants to take over the rest of the preparations. Don’t worry, it doesn’t have to be anything elaborate.”
“Oh,” Jhavni nodded, with a soft smile . “I can handle the entire dinner, Maa. It’s no trouble.”
